The Evolution of The American Duck. Episode 3

Ducks Unlimited, Inc – the only international NGO (non-government organization) bringing together conservationists and hunters from three countries: Canada, USA, and Mexico to protect the wetlands and flyways of the North American ducks and geese. And hunting them! Sometimes with the same people and families! A full-cycle duck.

In the these three episodes of 2020 (Ep. 11-13), available on YouTube and Apple Podcasts, PODCAST and Ducks Unlimited brings together three experts on duck evolution, the future of duck progeny, and why have fewer ducks been available per hunter in some of our flyways.

At the conclusion of this third episode we will present both the academic papers of Prof. Dr. Phil Lavretsky on the question of American duck evolution, but also offer our own analysis of the great significance of his research.

‘During his research into hybridization between mallards and black ducks, Dr. Phil Lavretsky identified a mysterious genetic signature among mallards in North America. Playing the role of waterfowl detective, Phil and his colleagues uncovered the source of this signature and brought a surprising discovery to the world of waterfowl management. We explore this discovery and what it means in our concluding episode of this exciting series!’
