I have friends in Hamilton, MT whom I went to Northwestern University with in the 1970’s. I was ask to pay them a visit on Thursday-Saturday last week. #FridaysForFuture. Here are scenes from that excursion. The consensus is the American People want electric vehicles to work. They really do! They don’t want expensive vehicles, they don’t want “play things”, but most understand – like in Montana – that climate change and global warming are real. Do not listen to the hype emanating from the East Coast. Hey, East Coast folks don’t even know you can travel by EV out here or ask your neighbor for help occasionally.
The Route to Hamilton and return via Chevy BoltEV: 8h 19m + 4 hours charging = 12h 19m one-way. Or 24h 30m roundtrip! This is only made possible by the German company Volkswagen AG™ who own electrifyAmerica™ and the student/youth movement of #FridaysForFuture and #ScientistsForFuture who have convinced many companies in Germany to look for alternatives to fossil fuels. Dr. Herbert Diess is CEO of Volkswagen AG.
Snow piles up fast in Idaho. The charging stop in Idaho occurred at the Walmart’s in Smeltersville. What a great little town is Smeltersville. Electric charging of vehicles, Walmart’s as the local banking facility; clean washrooms. Smeltersville has it all! You can actually add money to your PayPal™ debit card at Walmarts™, then use it RIGHT AWAY, say, for charging your electric vehicle! Even Bank of America (BOA)™ cannot do that. In fact, despite their name, BOA does not exist in Montana and most of Idaho!
-1C (30ºF) in Missoula, Montana USA. I arrived fully parka’d in 66North™ arctic fox. at the electrifyAmerica™ charging station at Walmarts 6-7 hours behind schedule. That is what a snowstorm over Lookout Pass, and 4th of July Pass will do to travel on I-90. I had to ask for a courtesy charge here, which electrifyAmerica™ granted. THANK YOU!
Black ice roads on Hamilton. The Bitterroot Mountains cast a meaningful stare in my direction. Oh wait!, that is the parking lot lighting….
On Saturday morning, heading out. Much warmer! +4C (38ºF). This is the same station I utilized on Thursday evening, btw. Not ethe decline in snowpack.
Beautiful scenery of the Palouse in Ritzville, WA at the Cow Creek Mercantile. Three electrifyAmerica™ charging stations stoically stand guard over the I-90 corridor.
White Line Fever into the setting Sun. Heading West towards our final charging stop at the Taco Bell™ in Elllensberg, WA. Then on to Seattle, WA.
