On this map of Eastern Washington State, labeled in orange, are active DC Fast-chargers of 3 different electric vendors – including Volkswagen – servicing both CHAdeMO and CCS-SAE connectivity for Tesla, Nissan, Chevrolet, BMW, and Volkswagen.
It is of some interest to note that there are NO FAST DC chargers near the cities of Richland, Kennewick, and Pasco. Which is ironic. Richland is the home of Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), managed by Battelle for the US Department of Energy. The home of some of the most advanced technologies is also a backwater burg when it comes to utilization of those same technologies. Only 4 or 5 employees of PNNL own EVs, for example.
When you drive into these towns, they look at your EV as an alien species…”Don’t you have a gas-powered car?” They ask us. They live temporarily in a throw-back 20th century, while all around them are hydroelectric dams on the Columbia and Snake Rivers, which share a confluence in the Tri-Cities.
