U.S. Balamuthia Cases and Global Warming => 1980-2019 (re-pub)

After the death of a local Seattleite from Balamuthia (RIP) – which is caused by fresh warm-water amoeba, I decided to ‘get statistical.’  I have grouped the two data sets arbitrarily into 10 year periods, beginning in 1980, as Balamuthia in the US was unknown before 1974.  I wanted to test out two assertion.  One presented by former Vice President Al Gore, that the Climate Crisis can be seen as a “Health Crisis in the USA,” and the second by Prof. Dr. Cliff Mass who asserts that it was impossible to look at the data year-to-year and find supporting evidence for Global Warming. In the face of insurmountable statistics and the IPCC Report, Prof. Dr. Cliff Mass still holds to his belief.

Global Warming is a Health Issue

This leads to four (4) data points.  While few, each data point, in itself, represents a set of 8 to 10 annual assessments by the US-CDC, taken independently over the 10 year period. Yet, since there are only a total of 109 cases reported nationally 1974-2016, no more than two significant figures are justified in monitoring trends or co-relations.

While it was presumed previously that the appearance and increase in Balamuthia-deaths was generated by warmer temperatures, this to my knowledge is the first time a statistical relationship has been demonstrated between the appearance and rise of Balamuthia cases with global temperatures over the same period.  The original Seattle Times article, written by Hannah Rodriguez is found here => Rare brain-eating amoeba kills Seattle Woman

In hindsight, its clear the campaign that former Vice President Al Gore is waging, including the “24 hours for Climate Action” on Twitter hits home for many people. “The climate crisis is in many ways, an health crisis.”
