(Arctic Sea Ice Minimum Week) Countdown to Arctic Sea Ice Minimum – 11SEP18

In just a few days we will reach Arctic Sea Ice Minimum..  This page will be updated daily – then  we will make an assessment for the coming year. The Arctic Sea Ice Minimum indicates how warm the Arctic Sea and Air have become and how severe our Winters east of the Rockies and coastal ranges will be.  And when – not if – the Arctic Vortex collapses (various meterologico-politicos have renamed this now-seasonal and near-constant Arctic Vortex Collapse as: “Storm Cyclones”, “Storms of the Century”, or any number of  “hide and forget” names.  It is the same thing.  Earth’s thermodynamic systems will reach equilibrium with Global Warming as it occurs.

11SEP18 – WEDNESDAY

Screen Shot 2018-09-12 at 8.19.21 AMNote:  Again we see growth along Yakutsk in the fjords and bay areas, indicating cold temperatures in Far East Siberia. Very close to Arctic Sea Ice Minimum, if not already there.

10SEP18 – TUESDAY

Screen Shot 2018-09-11 at 8.36.42 AMNote: A change in the Arctic Sea Ice in the region of Yakutsk, on either side of and below the word “Russia”.  Compare 09SEP18 and 10SEP18 Sea Ice Concentrations.  This could be flow ice broken off from the Arctic Ice Cap during melting or could be a true indication of the underlying water and bay temperatures.  Monitor this into the end of the week or when the Arctic Sea Ice Minimum is announced.  It is the Arctic Sea Ice across the Trans-Siberian Coast that is theorized in NOAA models to directly affect  the Vortex collapse in Winter.

Screen Shot 2018-09-11 at 8.37.06 AMNote: A change has occurred in the Yakutsk area of Siberia.  Look at the name “Russia”. Below it you will see new ice formation.  This could be flow ice or ice bergs broken off the Arctic Ice Cap.  Monitor until Arctic Sea Ice Minimum is announced later this week.
